2:45-3:45pm Coloring Our Power-Political Poster Making Workshop w/ Asians Rising GA Alliance (Led by Nicole Kang Ahn & Hufsa Zia)

Join us for an art workshop where creativity meets collective action! From posters to zines, art has long been a powerful tool in social movements, helping communities share our stories, name the issues we’re fighting for, and imagine a different future. Using paint, collage, and zine-making techniques, we’ll create art with a message and explore how our creative voices can be used for organizing and movement-building. The workshop will include a short demo before we get right to creating. When we come together, our stories become a collective voice. Let’s make art, build power, and make our voices heard this election season.

Waacking is a glamorous dance style with multicultural roots born in the LA disco clubs during the 70s. Learn how to waack with WAACKLANTA, Atlanta’s vibrant Waacking community!

2:00-3:00pm World Building (for Storytellers): Techno Orientalism by Minh Huynh

Understand how Asian culture, religions, and bodies are portrayed in historical and our current media landscape. Orientalism in our collective past and now Techno-Orientalism in our present have been powerful, narrative frameworks used to dehumanize our lived experiences. How do we build new narrative futures that center Asian people and our stories? This lecture explores this through worldbuilding with books, film, and more!
